Cathy and Cliff Lafrenz started Miss Effie's Country Flowers and Garden Stuff in the spring of 2002. We started with a 20 foot by 20 foot patch of cut flowers. We have expanded to almost an acre of flowers. Every spring we plant over 8000 annuals for your cutting pleasure.
When you visit us, you are given a bucket and a pair of clippers and are invited to cut anything in our gardens. The flowers change by the season so every day, something new blooms. A one gallon bucket of flowers is $20.
If you don't have time to cut your own flowers, arranged bouquets are available daily for $10.
We love hosting your parties and events on the farm. Our 1948 Behlen corn crib is perfect for a daytime picnic or an evening meeting. The corn-zebo will comfortably seat 20 people. Rental of corn-zebo for a private picnic is $25. Rental is $35 for evening events. We love hosting tours but due to the time demands of the farm -- we now charge $50 per tour group. Please check here for specific details. In 2011, we were proud to be named a partner site by Silos and Smokestacks, the National Heritage Area for Agriculture. We will continue to improve our farm to reach their high standards. Watch for new signage, more classes and new and exciting details to make Miss Effie's your favorite flower farm! We are members of the Quad-Cities chapter of Buy Fresh, Buy Local and we encourage you to look for local options when buying groceries.
And now, the Summer Kitchen. This is the perfect place to find Miss Effie's favorite treats, fresh eggs, dried flowers, hand-spun yarn, homemade soap and ruffled aprons -- all made by locally.
Come sit a spell with us.
Went to Miss Effies for the first time today - what a great place! My daughter fell in love with the baby ducks while I browsed for flowers. Took a lot of great pics, will absolutely go back when more flowers are blooming.
